2 cups whole wheat pastry flour
1 cup almonds, coarsely chopped
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 large, overripe bananas, mashed well
1/2 cup maple syrup (can be substituted with 3/4 cup sugar)
1/4 cup plain yogurt
2 large eggs
6 tablespoons unsweetened applesauce
1-2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
extra banana for garnish, optional
